Finding Safer Reload Windows in Zombie Shooting
An empty magazine creates a delay while the street keeps moving. Use enemy distance and your EMP charge to choose when that delay happens.

The nearest runner is closing the gap. In Zombie Shooting, starting a reload gives that enemy time to advance, so the magazine count needs context from the street in front of you.
Know the two starting refill times
The pistol holds twelve rounds initially. Its base reload takes 1.15 seconds, while the shotgun starts with four rounds and a 1.55-second reload after it becomes available in wave three.
You can reload before reaching zero. Use R or the reload button during a quieter stretch, provided the selected magazine is not full and another refill is not already underway.
Switching does not bypass an active refill. The game blocks weapon changes while reloading, so pressing the other weapon key after the delay begins will not produce an immediate shot from that magazine.
Choose the nearest threat before refilling
Runners deserve attention during that gap. Their type multiplier makes them move faster than walkers, while brutes move more slowly but can take more pistol body hits before leaving the street.
A head hit changes pistol damage. The base pistol deals three damage to the head and one to the body before power upgrades, making a reachable headshot useful when it removes an approaching enemy sooner.
Judge remaining durability as well as distance. Spending your final rounds on a distant brute can leave a close runner alive through the reload, even if the brute is the larger figure you noticed first.
EMP can create time for the refill
A full meter enables the burst. EMP deals three damage to active enemies and slows survivors for 3.5 seconds, giving you a window that exceeds either starting reload duration if you activate it before refilling.
The effect reaches the active crowd. Enemies that spawn afterward also move under the remaining slowdown, but the burst's initial damage applies to enemies present when you trigger it rather than future arrivals.
Charge returns through enemy kills. Headshot kills add eighteen points to the charge meter and other kills add eleven, so how you finish an enemy influences when the next defensive burst becomes available.
Supply upgrades alter the rhythm
The supply choice increases both magazine capacities. It also multiplies the reload factor by 0.85 with a floor of 0.45, reducing refill time across repeated supply selections rather than removing the delay altogether.
Choose it for the problem you see. If repeated refills interrupt your attempts to stop close enemies, extra ammunition and a shorter reload can be more relevant than selecting another damage upgrade by habit.
Practice one wave with earlier refills. Compare the nearest enemy's position at reload start and completion, then decide whether your next improvement should address aim, threat choice or the length of that firing gap.
